There are two 4-week Internal Medicine blocks over the University of Calgary clerkship year:
-
4 weeks on the Medical Teaching Unit (MTU)
-
4 weeks of selectives
Objective:
At the end of the internal medicine clerkship rotation, the clerks will be comfortable demonstrating the knowledge, skills and attitudes important to the field of internal medicine and confident moving forward to their residency training. Evaluation will consist of participation in formal and informal teaching activities while on rotation, summative written examination and in-training performance evaluation (ITER) reports.
Clinical Experiences
The clinical experiences of the clerkship have been divided into two main parts. The four-week inpatient Medical Teaching Unit (MTU) block and four weeks of subspecialty selective time either an inpatient or outpatient environment, depending on the subspecialty chosen. In general, any change requests to your scheduled rotations must be done well in advance, through Sibyl Tai, the clerkship supervisor.
